Mission
“Cultural Centre Townsville – preserving and maintaining Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history, heritage and traditional customs. ”
Aims and objectives of THE CULTURAL CENTRE Townsville operation are focused on:
- Showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their arts,
crafts, performance and related activities and attractions to the
regional, national and international markets.
Representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and
organisations throughout Townsville and the region by offering assistance,
support and skills development in all areas of traditional and
contemporary visual and performing arts.
- Providing information and acting as an education resource Centre and
facility for visitors including Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Students,
Corporate Managers and Staff and interested members of the local
and international communities.

Linking activities both locally, nationally and internationally with other
Indigenous attractions to give visitors the opportunity of a truly
memorable journey through Indigenous Townsville, Queensland and
Australia and
facilitate those interested in learning and being part of a
cultural experience and celebration.
- Providing significant employment and training opportunities for members
of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in
the areas of tourism, retailing, hospitality, administration, fine arts,
arts and crafts, dance and the performing arts.
- Providing traineeships for Indigenous people who are part of an innovative program developing and presenting their traditions, culture and heritage.
